Performance for the Ages

What a great pitching performance again last night in baseball.  I’ll take a great pitching duel over a slugfest any day and boy was I treated to something special last night.  Cliff Lee was fantastic and I think we have to give it to him as the best postseason pitcher of the last two years.  He has been so lights out in the postseason the last two years it’s not even close.  He’s like that one pitcher in little league that makes everyone just look stupid.  It’s seriously unreal what he is doing and I’m astonished every time I see him pitch.

Then yesterday, we see him up against arguably the best postseason pitcher in the history of the game, Andy Pettitte.  He was brilliant as well, making really only one bad pitch to Josh Hamilton.  He amazes me too because the last two regular seasons he’s been very average, but in the postseason, he’s masterful.  He just knows how to pitch in the playoffs.

I remember at one point in that game saying, damn!   Someone open the game up so I can go to bed, it’s almost eleven!!!  Then the Yankees took out Andy and the Rangers proceeded to piss all over the Yankees bullpen.  I was a little relieved as I could finally turn off the T.V. but what a great 8 innings of baseball last night.

Maybe it’s me, but give me a good pitching duel over anything in sports.  Truly captivating.
